I got sand in my camera...how do I get it out?

I'm in Spain and Portugal for the next month and a half, and the first couple days i'm touring with my school. we went to the beach in san sebastian, and since i'm the designated photographer (we all have specific roles) i brought my camera. i was really careful with it, but it must've gotten sand in it because now it won't close all the way--only half the lens shuts. i really can't get a new one, or send it in to get fixed, so is there a way i could get it out at all?
