Are there different types of lds members, im confused?

I live in a area with a high mormon population and have became close with two. Lacey is extremely modest.. She is very chaste, only is interested in mormon boys at our high school, she doesn't drink soda or coffee, she is 18 and has never kissed a boy and when she sleeps over my house sometimes she requests that I don't invite my guy friends over, no partying, now pg-13 or rated R movies. Also she's going to byu this fall and she told me most mormon parents want their children to go there and no where else. Its pretty extreme and then I have a mormon friend ashley. She's the exact opposite. She parties with me, she hooks up with more guys than I do, she drinks coffee, smokes weed, she has had sex and her parents aren't as strict. She's attending the u of arizona this fall with me and its one of the biggest partying schools in the u.s but she still claims she's mormon and goes to church. I'm just confused.. Are their different sects of mormonism? Or are some members just more conservative than other members?
